Nursing mothers get lactation breaks in almost all cases. And yet, even today, some California employers simply refuse to allow them or make them so difficult that in practical terms, they can’t be taken. This is simply wrong.
California law protects nursing mothers to be able to express milk for infants while at the workplace. Sometimes these breaks are called “pumping breaks” or “pumping at work”, or simply “pumping”. There are some limitations on the employer’s requirements to provide such breaks, but in general, they are available to any employee who is pumping.
