Michael Trust Law, APC
Attorney
Michael Trust Law is headed by Michael Trust, Esq.
Michael Trust is a California licensed attorney with decades of experience in all things employment related.
Mr. Trust spent 35 years of his career in a wide variety of human resources roles, including management and executive roles, in addition to three years of legal work as a law clerk. This experience allowed him to gain perspective from both the employer (organizational) and the employee (plaintiff) sides about how human resources should be done, and how it should not be done. Mr. Trust is passionate about ensuring that employees are treated fairly, whether working with an organizational client or with an individual plaintiff(s).
For organizational clients, Mr. Trust will help you be compliant, help you solve employee issues, handle employee claims, and help you ensure that you have the best workplace possible.
For individual clients, Mr. Trust will passionately fight for justice for you if your employer has done you wrong.
During his human resources career, Mr. Trust was involved in a range of employment-related legal matters, and is because of this experience that Mr. Trust decided to become a lawyer later in life, and where Mr. Trust learned the ins and outs of employment related claims from both the defense and plaintiff sides.
Mr. Trust has also been a California Bar Certified Law Clerk and a Law Clerk to three different law firms, each of which handled employment matters. Mr. Trust’s work with these firms has consisted of case evaluation, legal research and writing (briefs, motions, complaints, answers, etc.), data analysis, client interface, opposing counsel interface, legal strategy development, etc. Mr. Trust’s employment matters as a law clerk include class actions, PAGA claims, wage and hour claims, misclassification claims, expense reimbursement claims, discrimination claims (of all types), retaliation claims, whistleblower claims, benefits and COBRA issues, unfair business practice claims, RIF/layoff claims, and the like. Many of these matters included issues around stock options/RSU’s, bankruptcy, hidden assets, fraud, “squeeze outs”, and the like.
Mr. Trust strongly believes in the responsible use of technology to make legal services more affordable and efficient.
Mr. Trust is also a Certified Mediator and brings a mediation style approach to all issues and negotiations.
Mr. Trust has earned the praise of every attorney and insurance adjuster with whom he worked while in human resources, and as a law clerk, and has earned the praise of every plaintiff or organizational client with whom he has worked. Mr. Trust is often called upon by his management and human resources colleagues, as well as employees referred to him, to help them navigate employment related challenges.
Zealous client advocacy, with integrity and civility, are at the heart of every interaction Mr. Trust has.
Mr. Trust is proud to have worked his way through college, graduate school, and law school to achieve his dreams. It is this hard work and tenacity that Mr. Trust brings to every matter he undertakes.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys being a parent to his children, both of whom are adopted, a son and a daughter, and a husband to his wife, Roxanne. Michael enjoys watching the NFL, college football, Lincoln Lawyer, Law & Order (all of them!), The Godfather trilogy, historical documentaries, war movies, espionage movies, crime shows and movies, an occasional rom-com, and is a news junkie.
